claire frigo - Featured Photographer

claire frigo

Featured Photographer

claire frigo was born in Chicago, and moved to Kalamazoo with her family at the age of two. Her interest in photography began very early on in life, and she received her first camera when she was six; it was pink and plastic and marked the start of her career as a photographer. claire was a creative child, and growing up she was always very artistically inclined. Over the years, she learned to play several instruments, explored her passion for painting and drawing with various mediums, and had an appreciation for literature and creative writing.

claire has been independently pursing photography for the past five years, and began interning with local freelance photographer Dominick Gladstone in May of 2011. Studying under another photographer has helped her refine her skills and develop her nature eye and ability. She enjoys taking photos of just about anything that catches her eye, but especially candid shots of people, antiquated and sometimes decaying buildings and objects, street art and nature. Her photography is very design oriented and graphically appealing which stems from her appreciation of aesthetics and her background in painting and drawing. She views photography as a means of capturing the beauty and art comprising everyday life that often goes unseen, and portraying the subject matter in a different context where people are more open to appreciating it.

She is very excited about working with Kzoo Music Scene, saying, “Band photography is exciting, and a lot of fun because it can be challenging, and also because it combines two of my all-time favorite things – music and photography.”
